Horror? Hardly Know Her!
Horror? Hardly Know Her! is a nuanced romp into the sub genres of horror films. Hosted by Jane Wright & Donovan Dorrance, each episode is crawling with discussions dissecting two films from a certain horror film sub genre, i.e. slashers, vampires, folk, psychological, art house, body and more.
With particular focus on thoughtful analysis and patterns between horror movies, this podcast is for die hard horror fans, movie lovers, and thoughtful weirdos craving a new perspective on scary movies. Movies range from stone cold classics of the genre to...well the lovable misfits. Not only is there appreciation for the whole spectrum of horror films, at least 50% of the movies discussed each season will be films made by female or non-binary directors. Who knows horror better than a final girl?
Tune in each Wednesday to this unique and expansive perspective and find a whole new appreciation of what scares us on the screen.

It’s here, me lads! A St. Paddy’s Day - Mythology marathon! B-movie lovers, this one is for you 💚 Starting strong with the original gold loving Irish myth, Leprechaun, directed by Mark Jones in 1993 & ending even weirder with the worst movie ever made, Troll 2, directed by Claudio Fragasso in 1990.
..........
We laughed, we gasped, and we widened our eyes in disbelief. These movies forever pushed the boundaries of what film can be. And people are OBSESSED with them!!!! Incredibly, they are often barely rooted in any actual myths and full of the worst acting you've ever had the pleasure to witness. THEY ARE SINGULAR, HENNY! Get ready for the greenest, gloopiest, cringiest ride of your life. These goblins and this leprechaun stole our hearts forever.

Welcome one and all to Horror Noir, aka Noirror! And there is noir way you won’t love the pair of films we discuss: The Night of the Hunter, directed by Charles Laughton & Diabolique, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. Two timeless black and white masterworks from the year 1955.
..........
Oneiric, strange, erotic, ambivalent, and cruel: these horror noirs plunge us into worlds of crime and sorted characters. We discuss the technique of shooting on film to create those delicious black and white contrasts, the power of direction and screenwriting, and the gender dynamics of the 50s. With Diabolique being sighted as one of the greatest horror films ever made and The Night of the Hunter’s low-key “GOD-TIER” status, you’re in for a damn TREAT with this one.

It’s a gore fest (but a funny one!) Join Kassie and Maggie, from the horror movie podcast, Skip or Scream, as we embark down the chaotic and messy road of SPLATTER films! We discuss two movies from the year 1987. First the absolute B-movie of all B-movies, Evil Dead 2, directed by Sam Raimi. Followed by the freaky as hell flick, Blood Diner, directed by Jackie Kong.
..........
Splatter films explore the concept of human mortality and display a fascination with the vulnerability of the body. Or in layman’s terms, buckets of blood, guts, and cheesy practical effects. We truly cover what the spectrum of splatter can look like with these films. With the masterful physical comedy of Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead 2 to the near-non-existent story line of Blood Diner. Splatter is an important part of horror history and it was a wild experience witnessing the creativity of these films. Lets gooooooo!

Let's get into some hand-drawn and stop motion majesty with two horrifying and animated darlings!
..........
My favorite boys and I discuss the inimitable anime perfection that is Perfect Blue, directed by Satoshi Kon in 1997. We pair it with the kooky anthology triptych, The House, directed by Paloma Baeza, Marc Roels, Emma De Swaef, and Niki Lindroth von Bahr, made in 2022.
..........
Animation and horror are a match made in movie heaven. Both these genres push the boundaries of story-telling and visual creativity, so it only makes sense that when they join forces, the product is something uniquely haunting, heartfelt, and special. Join us as we discuss themes of identity, fractured reality, and connection. We gush about artistry and have a great time discussing two movies we loved!!

WELCOME BACK, BABES! Happy Season 2 Premiere!!
Holding absolutely no punches and going HARD START with HAGSPLOITATION aka PSYCHO BIDDIES. We discuss the creation of the sub genre, Whatever Ever Happened to Baby Jane, directed by Robert Aldrich in 1962. Paired with the modern feminist masterpiece, The Substance, directed by Coralie Fargeat in 2024.
..........
Weaponized femininity, the terror of aging bodies, and the violence that ties it all together. These cultural landmarks in the canon of haggetry stoke such a hot discussion in the world of women’s bodies on the screen. From the grotesque makeup of Baby Jane Hudson to the Substance’s slick and artsy take on the standards of Hollywood, you’re really in for a treat.
